Management

David L. James

David L. James is president of BSI. He is the author of Doing Business In Asia (Betterway Books, 1993), The Executive Guide To Asia-Pacific Communications (Kodansha International, 1995) and numerous articles on technology issues. He also co-taught the seminar "Law and Society in Asia" at Stanford Law School . Mr. James served as an executive of three international corporations active in the region: Dillingham Corporation, Crown Zellerbach Corporation, and Texasgulf Inc. He was chairman of business programs at the East-West Center, Honolulu, honorary consul of Malaysia in Hawaii, and a senior partner of Arnstein & Lehr, a prominent Chicago-based law firm. He is a graduate of Harvard University, the University of Chicago Law School, and Stanford Business School 's Executive Program.

Robert B. Hewett

Robert B. Hewett is vice president of BSI. He has many years of experience in the Asia-Pacific region as a foreign correspondent for the Associated Press and other media organizations and as an educational administrator/trainer. As a foreign correspondent, he was based in Hong Kong, Singapore, Cairo, Beirut, Teheran, and London. At the East-West Center, Honolulu, Mr. Hewett served as corporate secretary, director of the Institute for Culture and Communication, director of Publications and Public Affairs, and curator of the Jefferson Fellowships.

Victor Hao Li

Victor Hao Li is co-chairman of Asia Pacific Consulting Group, Honolulu, and was President of the East-West Center 1981-90. He is an internationally recognized expert on Asia-Pacific cultural and economic issues, he is a consulting professor of Stanford Law School, and he is a director of Hawaiian Electric Industries, Inc. and AEL China Generating Company. Born in China, Dr. Li holds degrees from Columbia and Harvard universities.

Nirav Modi

Nirav Modi is co-founder and director of business development of eLogic Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, India.  He is also CEO and president of eLogicTech Solutions, Inc., a California corporation that provides computer-assisted design services and software products to the architectural, engineering and construction industry worldwide.  In addition, he is CEO of Fortune Automobiles Pvt. Ltd., a Ford Motors dealership in Hyderabad, and a director or partner of several other Indian businesses.  He holds a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering and a masters degree in business administration from The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.

R. Sean Randolph

R. Sean Randolph was senior vice president of BSI before assuming his current position as president of the Bay Area Economic Forum, San Francisco. Mr. Randolph also served as director of California's Office of Export Development and as international director general of the Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC), and previously held senior positions at the U.S. Congress, White House, and the Departments of State and Energy. He is a graduate of the School of Foreign Service of Georgetown University, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Georgetown University Law Center, and the London School of Economics.

Gloria Chen Wahl

Gloria Chen Wahl is a partner of AltoTech II, an early stage venture capital fund focused on Internet, telecom and networking enterprises. Earlier positions included that of president and CEO of InterNex Information Services Inc., an Internet services company, and corporate treasurer of Wyse Technology Inc. Ms. Wahl was born in Taiwan and has lived in Japan, the Philippines, and Singapore. She holds an M.B.A. degree from Rutgers University and a B.S. degree from the University of Santa Clara .
